7/19/11

My first P-day and it feels great! The first week has gone by really slow, but now it is beginning to pick up.  I almost couldn't sign into my account because I didn't know the password. somehow i guessed the right one.  Anyway, the food is awesome. We get fresh fruit everyday with tons of different kinds of juices and drinks. Every meal we get meat and rice and beans. which, for everyone in my room, is the worst thing that could ever be served. I have a companion named Elder Fulton and we get along really well. There isn't a second that goes by where we aren't laughing at something or making jokes. BUT we are also progressing in the language faster than most people because of our past backgrounds in Spanish.  We learned how to pray the first day, testify the second day, and learned how to introduce ourselves and talk with people the past few days.  My English is already starting to fail which is a good and bad thing.
We went to the Sao Paulo temple today and it was awesome. It is a really cool temple and is very different than going to one in the states.  we have class 8 hours a day except Sundays and on our p-days.  The CTM is way less strict than the MTC in Provo. We can pretty much do whatever we want besides what is scheduled. every day we have an hour to play any sport, but everyone is terrible at every sport so it is really hard to get anything going.  Today right after i send this email we are walking the neighborhood around the CTM and going shopping.  it is going to be really cool. By the way i cant send anyone emails from this email so if you want to contact me then send a letter. Also mom, make sure Dan gets this so he knows i am in the CTM safe. If you are wondering how my Portuguese is going here is a little taste of what i learned in three days.  Oi! meu nome é elder langlois. Eu sou um missionario de jesus cristo dos santos dos unltimos dias. como vai? muito bem. Tenho um mesagem por vocé muito especial sobre jesus cristo.  That is only a little of what I know and if you think you are saying all of those phrases right.... I can almost guarantee you aren't haha. You will just have to wait and see what it sounds like in two years. Also there is only one missionary going to my mission at the moment and it is sister nelson. So she cant really be my companion once i get there.  Everything is going great, i read the letters you hid in my candy and loved them.  The weeks will start flying by soon. anyway.... got to go love you guys    ELDER JAKE LANGLOIS

Farewell!

Jake spoke in sacrament meeting on July 10th. He left for the Sao Paulo MTC on July 12th.
We were all sad to see him go, but we are so happy he is on a mission and he will be awesome!
