8/7/12

hello,
Sorry I didn't write yesterday, we didn't go to the office at night.
I don't think I told you about how I was in the liahona here in Brazil. When I was in my first area we took a picture and its in the Brazilian liahona in July 2012.
I talked with sister today about the Facebook page and she was excited and said that the pres would update it and put pictures on it. We picked up Elder Jensen today and he got here without any problems. Also on the way to the mission home there was a riot with people trying to block the streets with fire! it worked but we just went around them. They were on strike against the buses I think.
We live 10min from the office and yes we walk. From the mission home it is a different story, its about 30min by car. It's not bad because the only time that we go there is when new elder get here and are leaving. Pres. Gonzaga is in the office Monday to Friday. Sister only comes in when she wants haha. We have to work directly with them, so its always good when they come to the office instead of doing everything through email. I am alone now, we had transfers and the elder that was helping me learn how to do everything left. Now I am in charge! I have a new comp since the last transfer. Elder Douglas, he will take elder Pajaros place in 5 weeks. We play chess at night when we get home, and we only speak Portuguese. I never use English. I already wrote and read really well in Portuguese, but now its way better.
so, my responsibilities...when a new missionary comes I have to make a card for him to put on the presidents board. Then I have to make a packet with materials for his trainer and for him too. Before he gets to the mtc I have to send a letter to him. When he gets here I have to send a picture of him with pres and sister to his parents. And that's for each person when they get to the mission.
when people go home I have to send three letters one to the parents one to the stake pres and the other to the bishop. Also I have to do certificates and laminate all of them. Also I have to mark interviews for everyone in the mission. I just covered one page of the packet that I received when I got here. The packet has 22 pages.
maybe it doesn't seem like much but usually missions have 4 secretaries.....
In terms of missionaries leaving there is nothing that happens haha. There is n0 outgoing fireside or anything like that. we just go home hahahah.
So today we picked up an elder that got here today. It's always fun to see the fear in their eyes not knowing what will happen to them. It's one of my favorite things to do as a secretary is pick people up at the airport. Anyway things are going well, just got a little sick this weekend but I am already feeling better.
love you guys!
LOVE ELDER JAKE LANGLOIS
